In the beginning, we sold straight, unblended beans. We soon realised (and our customers agreed) that we could offer more exciting and complex tastes by mixing beans of different degrees of roast and from different countries. Now we have over twenty blends to choose from. A Note on Espresso Beans
People often ask us for a specific espresso blend, but we have found you can make espresso with any type of roast or blend. It's the brewing method—hot water forced through very finely ground beans—that creates thick, concentrated espresso coffee. On the West Coast of North America, people generally prefer dark-roasted beans for espresso; in Eastern North America, and also in many European countries, lighter roasts are more common. We suggest using your favourite beans, whether they're light, dark, or in the middle.
